Original era manufacture. Standard WWI issue Doughboy gasmask, with a great looking, hand stenciledimage on the reverse of a cowboy and a bucking bronc. The mask and hose are present but in typicaldry condition, demisting can is inside. The reverse painting is very well done, with the image being placed over the soldiers name, William White, with the letters WW below. Also included, is a piece of what might be tent fabric which has been made into a storage bag, It also displays a similar hand done stencildesign with the letters WW below. The fabric of the shows tears and staining, however the image is quite pronounced. The image of a cowboy and a bucking horse was used by the 88th Aero Squadron in France during WWI. The 88th was a Corps Observation Squadron, which began operational flights on the first of June, 1918. They suffered the loss of 6 killed, 8 wounded, and were credited with the downing of four German aircraft.
