Original era manufacture. Standard WWI US madeM1917 steel helmet, with the 33rd "Prairie" divisional emblem painted on the front. The helmet is complete with its original liner, which is largely intact, however the chinstrap is missing. The best news is that the original owner, one 1st LT. Roy R. Honey, painted hisname and unit association on the inside of the helmet shell. Company F, 129th Inf, 33rd Div. 65th Brig A.E.F.At some point in time the exterior of the helmet was lacquered over, perhaps by Lt. Honey himself for wear in Memorial and Veterans Day parades. Excellent research potential.
