Original era manufacture. Identified WWI uniform grouping to Pfc. W.H. Moberg, HQ Battery, 334th Field Artillery (75mm Guns), 87th Infantry Division. The grouping includes his issue gasmask with a wonderfully decorated carrying bag, named to him and unit marked to the 334th FA in two places. The mask is in typical condition for one of these, rigid mask face and hose, the petrified flutter valve is broken off but present, repair and issue card there, but missing the demisting can. Standard pattern issue coat, with US & Artillery HQ collar discs, 87th Division SSI on the left shoulder applied with a zig-zag hand stitch, hand sewn Discharge stripe, and a single overseas stripe. On the right sleeve is an Artillery Pfc rank disc, zig-zag stitched like the 87th SSI. At one time, a machine sewn, rectangular shaped was sewn on the left shoulder, removed, and replaced by the current 87th SSI. The stitching of this emblem can be seen in the shoulder lining. No moth issues to report, all buttons are present, the collar hooks are missing but the loops are present. W.H. Moberg written in ink on the inside front lining. Size about a 38 regular. Matching material issue enlisted breeches, handwritten name W.H. Moberg (same style writing as the coat) in the pocket lining. Again, no moth issues, about a 30 inch waist, no laces in the legs. A nice clean set, worn by a Doughboy who went to France in 1918.
