Original era manufacture. Standard WWI Doughboy Box Respirator and carrier. Named on the back lower edge of the carrier, E. M. Gates, Hdq Det. 305th Engineers, his service number 838810 is written on the left side. The yellow painted canister has not broken away from the brittle face mask and hose, the flutter valve has broken off but is present. Issue booklet attached to the canister hose. Demisting can is present. During WWI, the 305th Engineers served with the 80th Division. St.Mihiel and Meuse Argonne offensives. The division spent 17 days in active sectors and 1 day in quiet sectors. It suffered the loss of 1,132 KIA, and 5,000 WIA. Excellent research potential.
