Original era embroidery and photography. A Japanese silk embroidered, patriotic tapestry measuring 22 x 18 inches, featuring an embroidered eagle, "Present From Panama", and crossed flags of the United States and Panama. A photograph of the doughboy is placed within the central lifebuoy frame. This is an unusual example of the Japanese memorial embroideries we have offered in the past, being the only example identified to the Panama Canal. Glued on the reverse is some information on the man who mailed this home during WWI. Fred J. Green Sr, 40740 U.S. Army. Was n the first war ship to pass through the Panama Canal in WWI. Served in France. Co. G, 161st Infantry, 41st Division.Inducted Sept 7, 1917, Discharged March 18, 1918.
