Original era manufacture. Heavy leather field shoes, with hobnailed soles and stacked leather heels, which are also hobnailed. The shoes exhibit considerable wear and use, but pliable, and are not torn or holed. There is a 7 digit number stamped into the inside of the top of each shoe, perhaps a soldiers service number. Included are a pair of leather laces, and olive wool puttees. The white lettering on the sole instep, FG-61, indicates that this pair of field shoes once formed part of the Jack Smith collection of Tombstone Arizona. One of the finest private collections of early US militaria I have ever had the privilege to view.Size about a 12, great for display, not for wear.
