Original period manufacture. Classic WWI bayonet in wartime configuration. Blue finish to the guard and pommel, original finish rough hewn wood grips with no cracks or chips. The blade is SA marked for Springfield Arsenal and bears the year date of 1908. Likely when it left Springfield in '08 this had a bright finish blade, receiving a chemical darkening application during the war years. This has blended over the years as shown. The blade length measures just under 16 inches, with the point being slightly rounded during service use. Very sound tan canvas scabbard with a very nice leather tip showing original stitching. The numbers 68 have been stenciled in faded yellow paint just below the scabbard throat.
