Original period manufacture. Full length 16 inch blade which is maker marked SA (Springfield) and dated 1913. The blade presents a matt gray appearance, with several shallow nicks in the cutting edge, none of them are severe. Parkerized finish to the guard and pommel, likely refinished for WWII use.Smooth wooden grips displaying typical marring and wear from service use. The grips screw is one from a WWII production bayonet, as it extends beyond the surface of the opposing grip plate.Khaki canvas covering to the rawhide covered wood body, shows soiling from service use. The leather tip cover is sound, and is marked Bauer Bros. 1918.
