Original era manufacture. 1913 dated blade produced at the Springfield Arsenal prior to WWI. Dark steel patina finish to the blade, no pitting, with a few very shallow nicks in the cutting edge, more felt than seen, sound point. Original rough hewn walnut grips in good repair, pleasing steel patina finish to the pommel and guard with no pitting. USMC style canvas scabbard cover with the seam on one side and the larger, Marine pattern belt hook. Leather covered tip with drain hole. Man's name, A.W.METZ stenciled onto the reverse of the scabbard. Sound bayonet overall, just normal age and use.
