Original period manufacture. Full length, bright finished, 16 inch blade which is maker marked SA (Springfield) and dated 1909. Slightly rounded point, with an even steel patina finishappearance, with several shallow nicks in the cutting edge, none of them are severe. Rough hewn wooden grips displaying original finish with minor marring and wear from service use. Lock button works properly. Khaki canvas covering to the rawhide covered wood body, shows soiling from service use. The leather tip cover is sound, but the stitching holding the tip in place has disintegrated over the past century, and a rather crude attempt has been made to glue the tip in place.Still a very presentable looking example of the WWI US Service Bayonet.
