Original period manufacture. Khaki canvas construction, complete with its meatcan pouch and pack extender. The markings are clear, 158 G and crossed rifles for the Infantry, all of the metal fittings are present, and the canvas is free of dry-rot, but stained from wear and use. Soldiers name visible under the meatcan pouch, Charles Holcombe. The pack extender is from another unit as it has a Cavalry issue marking tag installed. The 158th Infantry was formed from the Arizona National Guard, and served with the 40th Division in France during WWI. In WWII it became the famed "Bushmasters".
