Original era manufacture. This canteen is a true time capsule, appearing as it must have sitting on the Quartermaster's shelf nearly 100 years ago.Pliable pink leather suspension strap with a darkened brass snap-hook, crisp black US stenciling, with a clear 1918 date and Bauer Bros. Mfg.Co. makers name. Full length, gray leather securing tie at the bottom strap loop, we never see these attached anymore.The aluminum canteen and cup are as nice as the cover, I doubt if the canteen has ever held water, the cork is near perfect. Both the canteen (AGMCO 1918) and cup (U.S. 1918 B.A.CO.) show an even, matt, factory finish, with some minor wear from the movement of the cup handle, and a very small dent in the body of the canteen. Beautiful.
