Original period manufacture. Full length example of this large pattern sword, last model issued to the US Cavalry. The blade is quite clean, no issues and runs straight and true. Black painted steel guard withblack plastic grips. Attached to the pommel is a russet leather Civil War style swordknot, I don't think it is too old but does have a bit of age. Steel scabbard with two carrying rings at the throat, nickel plated surface in good repair. Some sources state that the metal scabbards were intended for parade use byofficers. Therearea fewscattered shallow dents along its length but overall the scabbard is in very good condition.
