Original period manufacture. Full length example of this large pattern sword, last model issued to the US Cavalry. The blade is clean, runs straight and true, with scattered areas of old cleaned corrosion and light pitting along its length. Even steel patina finish to the guard and backstrap, with black plastic grips. OD canvas covered scabbard with the small projection on the drag, allowing the scabbard to serve as a tentpole in the field. This projection has been shortened from it's original length, still a first issue scabbard. Scattered areas of wear to the canvas surface, showing wear spots and minor fraying.
