Original era manufacture. US WWI M1917 Doughboy helmet, near complete. Identified on the chinstrap to Roy Caspari. Two period emblems are painted on the sides of the helmet, US 7th Corps and Army of Occupation insignia. The wool lining pad is missing, otherwise the liner is complete, with its original chinstrap named to the original owner. Doing a quick Ancestry look this morning, we find Private Roy T. Caspari traveling to Europe aboard the SS Grampian on 21 July 1918 as a member of the 310th Engineers, 85th Division. He returned to the USA in June 1918, aboard the SS Mobile.
