Original era manufacture. Two square shaped aluminum discs of a pattern issued to US troops after they landed in France in 1917. Evidently a single disc tag was issued prior to the war and these "emergency" square tags were issued one per man to supplement the original. Now as to why this soldier has two square ones, well who knows. The 101st Engineers formed part of the 26th Yankee Division during WWI. The square issue tag makes good sense as the 26th was the first USNG Division to reach France in 1917.
