Original era manufacture. This interesting coat formed part of the WWI uniform collection we recently purchased; it being a private purchase coat made of Army wool color material, with Marine Corps enlisted buttons. Rather than try and concoct an explanation of why it appears so, with a list of unaccountable reasons for it's existence, we thought why not simply offer it for the sum of its parts, and allow the new owner the chance to divine its origin. Standard US Army wool enlisted coat of private purchase quality, with a Kirschbaum clothes tailor label in the collar. The collar was never pierced for insignia of any type; matching USMC enlisted buttons throughout. On the left sleeve is a an embroidered 2nd Class Pharmacists rate, which is hand-stitched to the coat. Two gold wire overseas stripes which are embroidered on Army wool. Over the left chest pocket is a two-place ribbon bar, New York Victory Medal & a US Victory Medal with four battle stars. Scattered, typical minor mothing, no stains or tears, size about a 36 regular.
