Original period manufacture. Partial wrap brooch numbered and named Purple Heart.  Named to Alexander Kowalczyk and numbered 55187 on its edge. The accompanying research shows that Alex Kowalczyk enlisted from Michigan and served with Ambulance Company 12, 1st Sanitary Train, 1st Infantry Division and was wounded October 6, 1918. Normal age and wear.
