Original period manufacture. An issue quality hat of dark blue wool with a gold embroidered cap tally, US NAVY, now with a dark toned finish. The liner is of tiny blue/white cotton checks with a brown leather sweatband. The name M.J.PLACE is stenciled in white paint on the lining. There is a small tear or slit in the fabric on the underside of the hat next to the cap tally bow, difficult to see, no other issues to mention beyond normal age and wear.
