During his service, he did his basic training at GreatLakes Naval Training Center, later serving aboard the USS Maine, USS Stephen and USS Minnesota. The lot consists of his blue wool watch cap, dress hat with US NAVY tally, blue wooljumper, black silk neckerchief and bell bottomtrousers. In addition there is a photograph of him in uniform, with his US Navy War Certificate stating his service details and other information. The set is quite sound, showing typical age and wear, with a repair in the neck flap, and a few scattered moth bites. Purchased from his Granddaughter.Of note, both the USS Maine and USS Minnesota, were pre-dreadnaught class battleships which took part in the cruise of the Great White Fleet 1908-09. The USS Minnesota, struck a mine placed by a German U-Bootof off the eastern coast of the USA in September of 1918,
