Original era manufacture. One of those items that seems to have been a good idea at the time, a supposed useful item, some young officers preparing for the trenches of France, would burden themselves with, only to find no time to use them once there. What we have is a tinned steel storage casing with the shorter end provided with loops to allow the insertion of wire handles to use as a cup, the other larger end could be used to hold liquid I suppose. Inside are two unfinished steel compartments/frying pans, with a collapsible wire grate, and wire handles for the cup and ends of the pans. Appears to have been used at one point, as there are scorch marks on the bottom of one of the compartments. The only markings I could find are Pat. Applied For. When everything is buttoned up, it measures 11 inches in length. You could use this today if cleaned up a bit.
