Original era manufacture. From an old Arizona collection, comes this wonderful trench art lamp with a doughboy helmet for a lampshade. Numerous bits of period militaria and ordnance have been assembled and modified to bring this piece of work to life. Mounted to a square piece of burled walnut is a modified Krag bayonet scabbard, now covering a round steel rod which provides the support for the helmet shade. A WWI fragmentation grenade body has been placed at the base of the Krag scabbard, with an additional grenade body which has been cut in half placed in front as inkwells. Two French rifle rounds have been cut into pen holders, one of which is decorated with a WWI German enlisted crown button. A cross of shrapnel marks X between the inkwells. The helmet is a standard US M1917 steel helmet with a 7th Infantry Division emblem on each side. There are two light fixtures inside the helmet bowl (recently re-wired with new cord) with chain "pulls" with a doughboy dogtag affixed to the end of each. We have plugged this into a wall socket, pulled the chains and the lamp lights right up. Since this will be going into a box to be shipped to you we will have to take it apart a bit. It looks to be pretty straight forward so shouldn't be a problem for you to re-assemble. This would be great in anyone's war-room.
