Original era manufacture. Hand made aluminum matchsafe with an Iron Cross motif on the front with St. Nazaire, France. The spine is etched with Worlds War 1914 - 1918 and the back is etched with B. Bitow, USA, AEF, Souvenir from Elisabeth Port. Doing a quick Ancestry search I found a Boleslaw Bitow departing from the USA for France in October 1918 aboard SS Melita, serving in Co. D, 134th Infantry, 34th Division. Once part of the Jane A. Kimball Collection of Trench Art.
