Original era manufacture. This very large, and very detailed estate grouping, chronicles the life of one US Marine who served with the 74th Company, 6th Marines during WWI. Twice wounded, the first time at Soissons on July 19, 1918, the second time on October 8 1918, at Champagne. After the war he was very active in Veterans affairs, serving as the National Adjutant of the Disabled American Veterans for many years. All of the items are from the same estate here in Mesa Arizona, and were purchased by alocal collector around 7-8 years ago.The lot includes the following highlights, plus other items too numerous to list here. Being as large as it is, and laden withlargeframed items, we encourage if possible a local pick-up to save on shipping expense for you.Forest green wool Marine enlisted blouse with original insignia as shown, painted Doughboy helmet (no liner), his USMC campaign hat (sweatband removed), a set of 1920's dated USMC Dress Blues (hat, tunic & trousers) likely worn by him during reunions and other official occasions in later life, a riker tray full of extra insignia, photos and booklets, numerous large framed images including a great photo of General Lejeune, a pass in review image of the Marines in front of the White Housein 1919, official French citation to the 6thMarines, framed USMC service certificate, and much, much more, scrapbooks, telegrams, extra photos and so on. Likely the most poignant item is a letter written by his mother, which was carried by him during the summer battles in which he participated, drawing a mapon it and making notes in the margins.Perhapsthe single most spectacular piece is a presentation pen set given to him likely when becoming the DAV National Adjutant in 1925. Mounted on a very large, and very heavy slab of colored marble (roughly 10x20 inches) with a very large, three dimensional Eagle, Globe & Anchor at center. Really a magnificent center piece. This is a big pile, three large boxes just to get it back to our shop. It will provide and excellent display, and many hours of enjoyment pouring through the paperwork, we've really just scratched the surface in describing it.
