Original era manufacture. Depot marked in the left shoulder, Quartermaster Depot U.S. Marine Corps, 1918-1919. Size marked 5-Stout, which is about a 40 regular in today's world.No moth issues to report, all buttons are present, light fading to the fabric from age, with some wear marks on the inside of the collar.The enlisted pattern bell-crown hat is about a size 6 1/2, and is complete with its proper pattern brass EGA on the front. Full lining, with a leather sweatband which is depot marked and dated 1916 on the underside. In addition, the stenciled name V.R. McClain appears.There is some scattered mothing on the hat, the worst of which appears behind the original leather chinstrap,which does a great job of covering it up. The hat is quite sound in all other respects and displays very well. Purchased together as a set at the last Pomona militaria show.
