Original era manufacture. USMC issue enlisted dress hat, dark blue wool body with red wool piping, basket weave side supports. The brown leather sweatband is securely stitched to the body of the hat; showing a glue repair on one side, black cotton lining material. Scattered minor mothing, but being of a dark color the issues are not easy to see. Darkened bronze EGA hat device, leather chinstrap with Marine Corps side buttons.Stamped into the sweatband, and interior body, is the name G.W. DOWDY. Ancestry provides muster roll information on a George W. Dowdy, who served in the Marines from October 1918 until February 1920. From February 1919 until January 1920, he was stationed at Marine Barracks, Naval Station Olongapo Philippine Islands.
