Original era manufacture. An Army contract hat with an enlisted USMC EGA on the left side, 1st Lieutenant rank bar and darkened copper 11 emblem on the right side. The interior label shows the following, Frank P. Heid & Co. September 21, 1918. Size 6 7/8. Pencil point moth bite to the right of the EGA. There are no other markings on the interior that would show absolute USMC heritage, so we must allow that this could have been assembled for collecting/display purposes. All of the insignia is period correct, and it is well known that the Marines made use of Army uniforms during the 1st World War. Also, the 11th Marines did serve in France but arrived too late for combat. Priced according to the sum of it's parts.
