Original era publication and photography. A unit history of sorts, and group photo of the officers and crew of the USS Leviathan (formerly SS Vaterland) post WWI.The Leviathan was seized by US Custom Officials at the port of New York on the 6th of April 1917, being turned over to the US Navy in July of the same year.Converted to a troopship, she transported over 100,000 American soldiers to France during the war.I believe the book was published post war, with this particular volume belonging to a young man who served as a crewman aboard the ship, in the capacity as a Pharmacist's Mate. He took the trouble to glue a number of photographs inside the cover; in addition to a rather risque drawing of the girl of his dreams. The book includes a full roster of the crew, and a pull-out sheet giving details of the numbers of troops carried on each voyage. The group photo is in poor condtion, although details remain clear. The book does display handling and wear, with some tears in edges of a few pages, however none of the pages are loose.
