Original era postcard. US WWI American Expeditionary Force postcard from son to Mother dated November 4, 1917. The soldier served in Co E, 166thInfantry. The 166th, Ohio National Guard,formed part of the famed 42nd Rainbow Division in France during WWI. It saw 264 days of combat in four major campaigns, suffering the loss of over 14,000 casualties.In the text, the soldier tells his mother that he has arrived safe and sound, and he is being billeted in some wooden sheds built for that purpose. He further states that he and his comrades are cleaning up after their ocean voyage, which he refers to as "Davy Jones's Locker". Normal handling and wear with mailing stamp.
