Original era manufacture. Parkerized finish to the 18 inch blade, maker marked and dated on the reverse ricasso, S.W.I. 1943. Dark plastic grips secured with four brass rivets. These machetes were manufactured in the 1980's and are of a very high quality, sadly they have fooled many who thought they were original WWII (me too!). Still a good quality tool in usable condition. The dark OD canvas scabbard is of WWII production MEESE Inc. which is also dated 1943 and maker marked. Makes a nice set for display.
