Original period manufacture. Postwar, Japanese Occupation produced insignia, of gold wire embroidery on a red velvet Taro leaf, stitched to an orange-red backing. White cotton reverse, unused, small moth bite in the lower left edge.The 25th, Tropic Lightening Division, was stationed in Hawaii on December 7th 1941, with their headquarters at Schofield Barracks.They saw action in the Pacific Theater at Guadalcanal, New Georgia, Vella Lavella, and the Philippines. They are credited with 165 days of combaton Luzon, suffering the loss of 5,500 casualties. The performed occupation duty in Japan in September 1945.
