Original era manufacture. Wooden framed assortment of USMC, WWII era buttons, insignia, dogtag and ribbons to a 2nd Division Marine Corporal.Thin silk Japanese flag which measures 27 x 39 inches, with twopaper reinforced corners with tie strings. Thereare printed kanji on one end of the flag as shown. On one side of the flag are the names and addresses of 22 of his comrades, and on the other side, a listing of the places he visited during his service with the Marines, beginning with Base Depot Boot Camp San Diego, and ending at Sasebo Japan. Between those two entries are several notations which are quite familiar to students of WWII;Tinian, Saipan, Okinawa, Nagasaki, to name a few. I did a quick search for our Marine on Ancestry, and found him serving in the field with the 2nd MarDiv in April 1945, so further research should prove interesting.
