Original era manufacture. Red wool swallow-tail guidon with machine sewn white cotton numbers and letters, with a gold-brown machine sewn Engineer castle on each side.Sleeved at one end for a pole with a light OD cotton lining, and leather mounting tabs at each opening. Stitched inside the bottom opening is a Philadelphia Quartermaster Depot tag which is dated February 3, 1943 or 45, can't be sure as stitching runs through the last digit. The guidon is clean, shows some typical mothing to the body of the flag but nothing too terrible.During WWII the 39th Combat Engineer Regiment landed in North Africa in January of 1943, and participated in the following campaigns; Sicily, Naples-Foggia, Anzio, Rome-Arno, North Apennines. From a local Arizona estate.
