Original era manufacture. Felt construction SSI with a white cheesecloth reverse. The 3rd MarDiv was activated 9/16/42,entered combat on the Solomon Islands on November 1, 1943.On July 21, 1944 division elements landed on Guam. On 2/24 the division landed on Iwo Jima.
