Original era manufacture. This nice grouping was purchased by Terri and I last spring from a local picker who purchased it at an estate sale. It concerns the service of a US soldier who served in the 4th Infantry Division, and who went ashore on Utah Beach, June 6th 1944.The lot includes his framed medals with photo, unit history, scrapbook, dogtags and other ephemera. I have not opened up the medal frame to see if any of the medals are named, how you see them, is exactly how they came to us. Please note, the commercial Luger magazine pictured with the lot is not included. It was not part of the original purchase, just photographed here in error. Included with the lot is the citation for his Bronze Star, the content of which is quite interesting, it reads in part; "...Company F, 12th Infantry, For heroic achievement in connection with military operations against an enemy of the United States, near the vicinity of Bleialf Germany, 3 February 1945.While attacking across a thousand yards of open ground under a heavy mortar barrage and through a blaze of direct tank fire...discovered that a bypassed group of German riflemen hand ambushed his company and caused many casualties. On his own initiative he scaled a small hill under a hail of small arms fire in order to eliminate the enemy force. Continuing until he was within range of the Germans, he hurled handgrenades at them until their weapons were silenced. As a result of his intrepid action two Germans were killed and two others were captured. His courage and devotion to duty reflect great credit upon himself and the military service."
