Original era manufacture. US WWII 5 place medal bar. Named medal to Donald Wilbur Lamberton. The medals include; Navy Good Conduct with four stars, Naval Reserve Medal, American Campaign Medal, Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal and WWII Victory Medal.During his WWII service Donald Lamberton served aboard the USS Taussig, DD-746, from May 1944 to December 1945.In October 1944 the USS Taussig joined the US Third Fleet, Task Force 38, patrolling off of the Philippine coast while conducting search and rescue operations for downed flyers. In January 1945, DD-746 provided screening for a Navy attack force attacking the Japanese home islands with carrier borne aircraft.February 1945 found her crew conducting additional screening operations off of Iwo Jima, where she unsuccessfully attacked a Japanese submarine.Additional screening operations and radio relay duties where performed by DD-746's crew during the invasion of Okinawa where she was credited with the downing of four Japanese suicide planes and assisting in the destruction of others. On the night of 22-23 July 1945, she made an anti-shipping sweep off of the coast of Honshu with DesRon-61; they claimed the destruction of a small Japanese convoy of four ships with guns and torpedoes.
