Original era manufacture. A very emotive grouping, which tells the story of a young Arizona officer who served with the 759th Tank Battalion during WWII.Included are; Slot brooch Silver Star, slot brooch Bronze star, and a slot brooch Purple Heart. None of the medals are named. A cut-edge, cotton embroidered 759th Tank Battalion SSI, numerous pieces of post-war official paperwork including his 1959 death certificate. Black & white photo of him and another soldier, and an interesting newspaper clipping from the Yankee Boomer. The clipping details his service, stating that he has had five tanks shot out from under him since Normandy, the last being a miraculous escape from a flaming tank after being hit with an 88, he and the gunner being the only survivors of the crew.It also lists his awards, Silver Star, Bronze Star and Purple Heart. Perhaps the most poignant aspect of this grouping is the short inscription found on the reverse of the photograph. It reads in part..."Luxembourg City, Luxembourg, while on a 6 hour pass. The second one I've had since leaving Camp Shanks. I never realized it before, but I can see that look in my face that shows I have had enough. I want to come home and erase those thoughts for ever". All of the above were purchased at a Tucson Gun Show several years ago by a local collector. We in turn purchased the grouping from him.
