Original era manufacture. Original framed photograph of a USAAF pilot, with his wrap brooch Air Medal and two High School swimming competition medals. The pilot, Lt. Raymond L Higgins, was credited with the shooting down of an Me-109 aircraftas a member of the 85th Fighter Squadron then stationed in Italy. He later was killed in a non combat related aircraft crash in March of 1944. We cannot tell if the medal is named to him or not, it is in the original framing the family had done to honor him. The original paper backing with the framing company's label still covers the reverse. There is additional information and photographs of Lt. Higgins available on the online research site, fold3.com.
