Original era manufacture. A beautiful pair of LGB Sterling marked US pilot wings in their original box. Inside is a calling card named to William E. Rickon, Lieutenant Air Corps, Army of the United States. On the reverse is a handwritten note to his mother which reads,"I hope you are as proud to wear these as I am Mom". We have begun some basic research on this pilot and found him flying P-51D's in China as a member of the 311th Fighter Group. Further research indicates he was involved in some kind of aviation related accident on the 31st of March 1945. This should be a fun project filling in the holes to that story. The wings are nicely toned, only damage to report is a slight depression in the lid of the storage box.
