Original era manufacture. Produced in Belgium during WWII, to honor the 101st Airborne and their dogged defense of Bastogne during the Battle of the Bulge. Maker marked on the reverse, "Made in Couvin Belgium". Likely made of shell brass, to be sold to the troops in an attempt to aid the local economy. The cast shield or plaque measures 5.25 x 5.25 inches, with three small legs or feet on the reverse, the top one is pierced for hanging. pleasing brass patina.
