Original era manufacture. The set consists of an issue four-pocket service tunic, OD wool issue trousers, JQMD marked garrison belt, artillery piped overseas cap and OD cotton handkerchief. It is my opinion that this uniform set was put together to be worn by a Living History volunteer at Fort MacArthur, San Pedro California. The tunic displays all machine sewn cloth insignia, consisting of the 9th Coastal Artillery District SSI on the left shoulder, and matched pair of Master Sergeant chevrons, one on each sleeve, and on the lower right cuff five service stripes.Screwback Coastal Artillery enlisted collar insignia, and postwar produced Distinctive Insignia representing the 3rd Air Defense Artillery Regiment (Battery D was activated at Fort Mac in 1940), on the collar points. All buttons are present, each being secured by aremovable metal staple for cleaning purposes. The tunic is very clean, no moth issues and is about a size 42.The OD wool trousers have a 33 inch waist and 28.5 inseam, with an issue type cloth belt withpostwar brass buckle. No moth issues to report, the trousers are very clean overall. The overseas hatdisplays artillery red piping around the edge of the turn-up, with anotherDIpinned to the left front of the hat. Size is about a 6 5/8. Brown leather Garrison Belt, marked US JQMD, and measuring 37 inches from the center of the buckle to the first adjusting hole.Issue quality light OD cotton handkerchief measuring roughly 15 x 15 inches square. Light staining from use.
