Original era manufacture. US WWII Distinguished Flying Cross named to Robert K. Ferguson. A complete example, slot brooch suspension, with its original ribbon.Sgt. Robert Ferguson was a ball turret gunner of the 727th Bombardment Squadron, 15th Air Force. Who, along with the entire crew of B-24 42-95239, died when their plane crashed into a mountain on 4 November 1944.They were returning from a successful raid on Kufstein Germany, when their plane left the formation after crossing the Adriatic, and was never seen again.Their remains were discovered after the end of the war, and due to the extreme height of the crash (7500 feet) they were apparently buried on site.
