Original era manufacture. An early production example with the red and black spacers above the guard and below the pommel cap. The blade shows an even steel patina and retains its original configuration. All of the grip wedges and spacers are intact save for one of the thin red spacers near the pommel. It is missing about 50 per cent. The original leather scabbard shows clever decorating by the hands of its original owner who also carved the names of several islands were he served during WWII; New Caledonia 3/24/43, Guadalcanal 10/30/43 and Villala Villa 10/18/43.
