Original era manufacture. Ribbed black mohair wool capband with a removable US Maritime ServiceOfficers hat insignia, and pair of shoulder boards in the rank of Lieutenant JG. The hat device looks to be sterling, I can't seen to bet the screwnut to move so there itwill stay. They refer to themselves as the "Forgotten Service", theycertainly more than proved their worth in the North Atlantic convoys in the early days of WWII.Normal age and wear, deep silver patina to the metal insignia.
