Original period manufacture. Front seamed, reflective edge, fixed bale steel helmet with original sewn, light OD canvas chinstraps with brass attaching buckles. Original paint finish inside and out, there are a few shallow dents in the crown, with fraying and wear on the canvas straps where they loop over the bales. The lot number appears to be 4803, really difficult to read. Several stress cracks in the shell body.Stenciled in white  paint on the front is 40mm, perhaps a Navy designation for a 40 MM AA position.At the time of our purchase, a plastic liner in original exterior paint was inside the shell. Inland marked with 44 below. The exterior paint is quite nice, however the webbing is in tatters.
