Original era manufacture. US steel hatchet head with a wood handle. Looks like an original OD paint job with most remaining intact. Very clear,  American Fork and Hoe Co. 1945 markings on the head; no nicks in the blade edge, and no cracks or chips in the handle. The cover is of WWII vintage, light olive drab color canvas, with a clear stamp of Amer. Fab. Co. 1944. Basically unused, but with a wear hole near the upper edge reinforcement rivet.
