Original era manufacture. US steel hatchet head with a wood handle. Tool sports a postwar OD paint job but done well. No nicks in the blade edge, and no cracks or chips in the handle. Double struck US on the back edge of the hatchet head.I believe the cover is of WWI vintage, khaki color canvas, with a trace of a makers initials on the reverse. Light staining and fraying from age and use.
