Original era manufacture. US issue hatchet with a matching date light OD canvas carrier. The steel head is clearly marked US, American Fork & Hoe Co. 1942, and the carrier, Shane MFG Co. 1942  There is an old red overpaint on the head with the original OD paint visible beneath, original paint to the handle showing honest wear and use, post manufacture drill hole through the bottom of the handle. Clean canvas carrier with clear markings and a steel 1910 belt hook, showing a mix of blue and corrosion finish.
