Original era manufacture. US, American Fork & Hoe 1945 marked axe head, original handle, both exhibiting original GI paint finish.The axe head shows typical impact marks on the flat portion of the head, the cutting edge is not cracked or chipped, only normal wear and use. The head is a little loose on the handle, likely the result of the dry Arizona climate.Very clean, near new GI belt carrier in light OD canvas, clear US stencil on the front and Shane Mfg. Co. 1942 on the reverse.Of all the individual pioneer equipment; Pick Mattock, T-Handle Shovel, M1943 Folding Shovel, the Belt Axe seems the least common to find.
