Original period manufacture. Swivel bale, front seam, reflective edge helmet, with original sewn, dark OD chinstraps with blackened steel fittings. The lot number appears to be 421C, original paint inside and out. Original to the helmet, Hood Rubber Company liner with light OD canvas webbing, complete with a non-adjustable nape strap. The liner webbing is intact, however it shows service wear and use. Several of the sweatband mounting clips are missing and one has been replaced with a paper clip. The exterior of the helmet liner is painted silver, by the young boy who was given the helmet by his GI veteran neighbor back in the 1950's. This helmet was purchased by Terri and I, from the same gentleman, who as a young boy, was given a Japanese helmet by the same WWII GI neighbor. This is the neighbor's helmet, which was also gifted to the young man. In his boyish wisdom, the youngster felt it necessary to paint the exterior of the helmet liner silver. In all other respects, the helmet is as his neighbor wore it during WWII.
